Q + A

Q: What is Ed-Centric’s purpose?

A: Given the present uneasiness surrounding education, numerous local families are actively searching for providers who can help with remote instruction and/or lead enrichment experiences. That in mind, there are also countless locals- of varying ages, skills, and talents- who are eager to provide support. Ed-Centric serves to bridge those worthy connections.

Q:  What are the benefits of Joining?

A:  Once you are a member you are able to view and create profiles.  You also have access to services that our mothers recommend.  They are all local providers of small, family run businesses.  We believe in supporting each other. Additional pages are currently under construction to provide ideas for making a learning space within your home or elsewhere.  You will find budget ideas for DIY families as well as creative approaches. Additional resources will be added as our community grows, such as educational websites, trips & projects. Forums will be created for member participation and communication.

Q:  Where can I access profiles and create my own profile?

A:  The Sign Up/Login  Button is at the top right of the screen.  Some users find it easier to login on the desktop site. Becoming a Member has no fee associated with it and is required for the safety and privacy of our Ed-Centric community.  Each member is required to join and submit their own profile and agree to the Ed-Centric disclaimer to gain access to the platform.  Some members have two profiles, on as an educator/service provider and one for their own child. We encourage you to browse frequently, as the platform is in its infancy stages and is constantly evolving.

Q:  What types of educators are available?

A:  Educators and families will have equally diverse backgrounds and needs.  Providers range from High School Seniors offering tutoring once a week  to  highly experienced teachers intending to take on teaching full time overseeing a pod/micro-school.  Student teachers and volunteers are also welcome.

Q:  What educational services are available?

A:  The majority of Ed-Centric providers teach core educational subjects such as Science, Social Studies, Math and Language Arts.  Enrichment activities include music, athletics, foreign language, arts, graphic design, gardening, fitness, yoga and karate.  Think of our providers as an a-la carte

Q:  During COVID instruction what is required?

A:  Teachers and families are required to be familiar with and follow current CDC guidelines. Each relationship will be unique.    https://www.mass.gov/lists/covid-19-regulations-guidance

Q:  Is Ed-Centric a service that screens applicants?

A:  No.  Screening and background checks are encouraged and must be conducted by the user/member. Please see the disclaimer for additional details.

Q:  Does Ed-Centric match educators with families?

A:   No. Ed-Centric is a platform for members to identify  profiles that meet their  needs. Members contact one another to negotiate services. Ed-Centric encourages the privacy

Q:  Is Ed-Centric responsible for doing background checks on families and providers?

A:  No.  It is the sole responsibility of each member to conduct their own screening process, interviews, agreements and CORI +background checks.

Q:  Who is responsible if our arrangement does not work out?

A:  The employer (family) and employee are solely accountable for their actions and agreements.

Q:  What are the  fees and rates?

A:  Ed-Centric of the North Shore is offering complimentary memberships during this challenging time.   Our approach is one to make enhanced educational resources available to all.  Some of our educators/ mentors/ coaches/ enrichment providers volunteer their time.  Some High School and College students are required to do community hours, which would have no fee affiliated.  Student Teachers at some Colleges are able to collect credits and may choose not to collect wages.  Each family and provider will come to their own agreements.
